Liǎn (脸) was made through code, soft robotics, and fabrication. I used python to interact with Twitter's API, and ran sentiment analysis on the real time posts.

Sentiment Analysis is a from of machine learning, known as 'AI'. If you post, like or comment something positive, it will return a positive score, inflating the part of the mask that represents a positive front. Conversely, if it is negative, it will inflate the corresponding areas.

I lasercut layers of acrylics, and used them to cast the silicone layers and air channels, which I later assembled to form the inflatable masks.
